Maintenance Technician

Otago - Queenstown

Purpose of Position

Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, this position is concerned with the maintenance of hotel buildings, grounds and facilities. As the Maintenance Technician you are responsible for consistently maintaining the general up-keep of the hotel according to the required minimum standards. Furthermore, you would assist the Chief Engineer in all electrical work.

Skills, Experience and Attributes

  • Valid full New Zealand driver’s licence essential - must be able to drive a manual vehicle
  • Previous facilities maintenance experience, or experience working in the hotel/hospitality industry (or a similar environment) highly desirable
  • Previous electrical work experience highly desirable
  • Knowledge of appropriate and safe chemical handling highly regarded
  • Experience of working outdoors in a variety of climates desirable 
  • Sound understanding of legal compliance; Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA), Fire Safety & Security
  • Accuracy and an “eye for detail”
  • Passionate about “Customer Service/Care”
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy hotel 
  • Be able to work autonomously with excellent time management skills
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be physically fit with a high standard of personal presentation and grooming
  • Available to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings until 7:00pm, weekends and public holidays
  • Enjoys working as part of a highly focused team
